I decided to make a limited run of compact, round handle joinery mallets in various weights. Why?? Well, I made one for myself and liked it. Next, I made several as a test and folks liked them as well. Soooo, I just decided to make a batch of about 50 of them. That's that. When these are gone, their gone. End of story.
These mallets have a lighter head weight ranging from 12.5 ounces to 15 ounces with a few that are a more standard 16 ounce weight. As with all my mallets the heads are made of an infused curly hard maple. These mallets have a 3/4" x 3/4" tenon epoxied into the head with a steel rod running all the way through the mallet to assure the malllet head never separates form the handle. To add strength to the 6 1/2 inch long handle, a stylish 1/4" x 1/8th thick brass ferrule was added. Standard wood handle species are Hickory and Mahogany with an occassional one off species.
